From Borutta the walk continues to Ittireddu.
Itirreddu is on a hill called Monte Ruiu, which means “red mountain”. This is perhaps as a result of the volcanic nature of the area. For example, in 1870, there was a devastating earthquake in Sardegna and its epicentre was in Logudoro, not far from this area.
The town is also rich historically as there are Neolithic, Bronze age, Nuragic, Roman and Byzantine remains.
From Ittireddu the walk continues to Chilivani in the Municipality of Ozieri, with the possibility also of a small detour to the east to the town of Ozieri.
