Cilivani
Chilivani is a tiny hamlet of around 300 inhabitants in the Municipaity of Ozieri, some 6km from the town of Ozieri. It was founded with the passing of the railway (Cagliari – Golfo Aranci railway) by the Royal Sardinian Railway Company in the 19th century.
Notwithstanding that the hamlet of Chilivani is relatively new, the name itself is found evening in a 1643 bishopric document, “Su saltu de Quilivani (the countryside of Chilivani).
Ozieri
Once in Cilivani a detour to Ozieri, a more historic and larger town, whether on foot, rail, bus or by car, would not go amiss. The centre town of Ozieri is some 6km – 8km away from Cilivani.
Ozieri, in the province of Sassari and the Logudoro region is a sizeable town with over 10,000 inhabitants.
As an urban area it main attractions are historical and include the

- The Basilica of Sant Antioco. This is one of the largest Romanesque churches in Sardegna.
- the prehistoric caves, “Grotte di San Michele”.
