Yesterday evening at 20:30, Radju Malta aired the following interview by respected presenter Joe Dimech with James Portelli of XirCammini regarding the Camino Maltes Ruta Maritima:
Maltese Segment of the Camino Maltes by night
After the welcome reception hosted by H.E. José María Muriel, Spanish Ambassador to Malta, the group of pilgrims commenced the Camino at 22:00 from St Paul’s Catacombs. Their first stamp was administered by Heritage Malta at St Paul’s Catacombs.
The pilgrimage took its usual route through Zebbug, Siggiewi, Qrendi, Zurrieq, Bir Miftuh, Ghaxaq, Zejtun, Zabbar and Cottonera ending at the Camino Maltes hito outside Fort Saint Angelo at 05:30 a.m on 17th July 2024.
Mass and Pilgrim Blessing at the Collegiate Church of St. Lawrence in Birgu
The Malta segment of the Camino Maltes was followed by pilgrim mass at the collegiate church of St. Lawrence in Birgu followed by a pilgrim blessing for the pilgrim-sailors and a tour of the church, its art, crypts, chapels and the battle sword of La Valette.
11:00 Departure
At 11:00 today, 17th July 2024, The boat and crew departed from the Birgu Marina, Malta bound for Sicily and beyond.
